المستخلص: يعد التحضر ظاهرة دولية وهو أحد أهم وأكثر الأنشطة البشرية تأثيرا في جميع أنحاء العالم اليوم على جودة الحياة الحضرية وتنميتها المستدامة، ويحدث التحضر في أفريقيا بمعدل كبير حيث يهدد تحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة، كما أدى الزحف العمراني إلى خلق أنماط تنمية حضرية غير مستدامة من الجوانب الاجتماعية والبيئية والاقتصادية. في هذه الدراسة تتضح القوى الدافعة وديناميكيات النمو السريع مع التركيز على الأسباب والعواقب الرئيسية للانفجار الحضري والتدهور البيئي وتحول نمط المدينة، قامت هذه الدراسة بتسليط الضوء على تأثير التحضر والزحف العمراني على هيكل مدينة طرابلس ويرجع ذلك إلى أن العديد من المناطق الحضرية شهدت على مر السنوات السابقة نموا عشوائيا غير مسبوق وانفجار سكاني أدى إلى استنفاد المرافق الاجتماعية لتحقيق هذا الهدف يتم استخدام طريقة مميزة تستند إلى إجراء مقابلات شخصية مع السلطات المحلية تشمل خبراء التخطيط، وكذلك الأساتذة في المؤسسات الأكاديمية كما يستخدم التحليل الواسع للمستندات لكشف تطور النمو الحضري العشوائي.

Urbanization is an international phenomenon and its one of the most impactful human activities across the world today affecting the quality of urban life and its sustainable development. Urbanization in Africa is occurring at a dramatic rate and it threatens the attainment of sustainable development goals. Urban sprawl has resulted in unsustainable urban development patterns from social, environmental, and economic perspectives. This study explores the driving forces and dynamics of rapid growth, emphasizing the main causes and consequences of urban explosion, environmental deterioration, and city pattern transformation. The study was carried out to highlight how urbanization and urban sprawl have influenced the structure of the city of Tripoli. This is because over the years many urban areas have experienced unprecedented growth and population explosion that has resulted in the exhaustion of social amenities in the concerned communities. For this objective, a qualitative method is used based on in-depth face-to-face interviews with local authority, including planners, and planning experts, as well as professors in the academic institutions, also utilizes wide document analysis to present the evolution of urban growth. The findings detect that the non-developing of master plans, and economic prosperity are the driving forces which are accelerating this uncontrollable growth. It is proposed that the practical policies and strategic urban development plans are urgent requirement to control the unplanned urban growth and stimulate the desired sustainable future urban development.
