يهدف البحث إلى كشف دور علاقة الخصائص المناخية بالأمراض الزراعية التي تصيب محصول الذرة الصفراء، وأن هذه المحصول الزراعي يشكل أهمية اقتصادية وغذائية كبيرة، وذلك بالاعتماد على البيانات المناخية التي وفرتها الهيئة العامة للأنواء الجوية والرصد الزلزالي للمدة (2009-2019) مدة مناخية أصغرية وبيانات دائرة زراعة بابل، والتي بها اعتمد البحث في تحليل البيانات بالاعتماد على المنهج الوصفي في معالجة موضوع البحث الذي يعد من اكثر المناهج استخداما في العلوم الجغرافية مع الاعتماد على الأسلوب الكمي الإحصائي في تحليل البيانات، لغرض الوصول إلى مدى دقة العلاقة المكانية بين الخصائص المناخية والأمراض الزراعية باستخدام برنامج التحليل الإحصائي SPSS الذي استخدمت فيه أداة تحليل الارتباط لغرض الوصول إلى نتائج تتمتع بمصداقية ودقة عالية جدا، واستنتج البحث أن هناك علاقة مكانية لأثر الخصائص المناخية وعلاقتها بالأمراض الزراعية، بالإضافة إلى البيانات استسقت الدراسة معلوماتها بالاعتماد على العمل الميداني، إذ اختيرت أربعة مواقع هي (المحاويل والحلة والمسيب والهاشمية) ومتابعة المحاصيل الزراعية المشمولة بالدراسة لرصد الأمراض الزراعية من بداية الموسم الزراعي وتحديد نسبة انتشارها وحسب موقع الانتشار، بالإضافة للأبحاث القيمة والمعلومات المتوفرة فيها.
