المستخلص: الدراسة عبارة عن ورقة بحثية تطرقت للمحة تاريخية عن مشكلة إدمان المخدرات والتي تعود لقرابة أكثر من 7000 سنة قبل الميلاد وكيف انتشرت في العالم وبعد ذلك تم التعريف بأنواع عديدة من مفاهيم المخدرات مثل الخمور والمسكرات والحشيش والعقاقير والمهدئات والمذيبات الطيارة وكذلك منبهات الإدمان الخفيفة وإساءة استخدام عقاقير الأدوية. كما تطرقت ورقة العمل أيضا للآثار المترتبة على تعاطي المخدرات والعقاقير والمسكنات وعلاقته بالإدمان وكذلك الفرق بين المدمن والمتعاطي والأسباب التي أدت للإدمان كما تناولت الورقة موضوع النظريات المفسرة لتعاطي إدمان المخدرات مثلا لنظرية الفسيولوجية نظرية الوقاية من تعاطي المخدرات ونظريات الالتزام بالتقاليد والارتباط الاجتماعي ونظريات عوامل الخطورة والحماية ونظرية الدواخل الشخصية. وعرضت للآثار والاضطرابات العامة للعقاقير المسببة للإدمان وسلوك المدمن المخمور والكحول الايثيلي واضطراب الإدمان. واختتمت ورقة العمل بجهود المملكة العربية السعودية في مكافحة المخدرات من خلال عرض مشروع نبراس والذي يشمل أهداف برنامج نبراس واستراتيجية نبراس في العمل والوقائي وبرامج مشروع نبراس وآثر إدمان المخدرات وأرقام التواصل المركز الوطني لاستشارات الإدمان.

The study constitutes a research paper touching upon a historical background overview of the problem of drug addiction, that dates back to more than 7000 BC and how it spread all over the world. Consequently, several substances pertinent to drugs and addiction, such as alcoholic drinks and other intoxicants, hashish, drugs, sedatives, volatile solvents, as well as light addictive stimulants and drug abuse, were touched on. The paper has also addressed the implications and corollaries of being on drugs, drug abuse, and sedatives use and how they relate to drug addiction. Besides, the paper has also differentiated between the drug user and the addict and the reasons leading to addiction. From another perspective, the paper has dealt with the topic the theories explaining the case of drug addiction such as the physiological theory, the theory of drug abuse prevention, theories of adherence to traditions and social bonding, theories of risk and protection factors, and the theory of Implicit Personality. It has also touched on the effects and general disorders caused by addictive drugs, like ethyl alcohol, and the behavior of the intoxicated addict, and addiction disorder in general. The work paper concluded by presenting the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the fight against drugs through a demonstration of the Nibras project, including the project's objectives and strategy in work and prevention, and its role in addressing the problem of drug addiction.
