المستخلص: يرصد هذا البحث الصفة التي يروى حديث النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، ويوضح رواية الحديث بين المتشددين والمتساهلين والمعتدلين، والأحكام المتعلقة بصفة رواية الحديث، كرواية الضرير الذي لا يحفظ ما سمعه، والرواية من نسخة ليس فيها سماعه ولا هي مقابلة به، والحكم إذا وجد الحافظ الحديث في كتابه خلاف ما في حفظه، وحكم رواية الحديث بالمعنى، وحكم اختصار الحديث، وحكم رواية الحديث بقراءة اللحان أو المصحف، والحكم في ورود الحديث عن أكثر من راوي مع الاتفاق في المعنى دون اللفظ، والزيادة في نسب الشيوخ، وحذف "قال" بين رجال الإسناد. كما يبين مناهج المحدثين في النسخ والأجزاء المشتملة على أحاديث بإسناد واحد، والحكم إذا قدم الراوي المتن على الإسناد، والحكم إذا ذكر الشيخ إسناد الحديث ولم يذكر من متنه إلا طرفا فأراد الراوي عنه أن يروي عنه الحديث بكماله وبطوله، وحكم تغيير قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إلى قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أو العكس، وبيان الراوي بعض الوهن في سماعه حال الرواية.
