المستخلص: عملت الأمم المتحدة بمختلف أجهزتها على توفير الحماية اللازمة للمرأة وقت السلم والحرب منها لجنة مركز المرأة التابعة للأمم المتحدة، صندوق الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي للمرأة (اليونيفيم)، المعهد الدولي للأبحاث والتدريب من أجل النهوض بالمرأة وغيرها، غير أن هذه الأجهزة بقيت وما زالت لم تحقق الأهداف المرجوة منها في تعزيز مكانة المرأة داخل مختلف المجتمعات. وفي خطوة جديدة للأمم المتحدة وتحقيقا لرأي أحد المدافعات عن حقوق الإنسان أقدمت الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة أخيرا وبعد جهود المدافعين عن حقوق الإنسان والمرأة من منظمات حكومية وغير حكومية، على اتخاذ إجراء لخلق كيان جديد مختص بالمساواة بين الجنسين وتمكين المرأة، وفي 02/ 07/ 2010 أجمعت الجمعية العامة على إنشاء هيئة واحدة منظمة حكومية وهي "هيئة الأمم المتحدة للمرأة".

L'ONU et ses divers organes ont oeuvré pour assurer la protection de la femme en temps de paix et de guerre, dont la Commission de la condition de la femme de l'ONU, le Fonds des Nations Unies pour la femme, l’Institut international de Recherche et de Formation pour la Promotion de la Femme et d'autres. Toutefois, lesdits organes n’ont pas encore atteint leurs objectifs assignés quant à la consolidation de la position de la femme au sein de ces différentes sociétés. Ainsi et suivant une nouvelle démarche de l'ONU et accédant à l'opinion de l’une des défenseurs des droits de l'homme, l'Assemblée Générale des Nations Unies a pris enfin, et après les efforts fournis par les défenseures des droits de l'homme et de la femme, représentés par des organisations gouvernementales et non gouvernementales, des mesures pour créer une nouvelle entité compétente de matière d’instauration de l'égalité entre et les deux sexes et l’autonomisation des femmes, et en date du 02 Juillet 2010, l'Assemblée générale avait adopté par unanimité la création d'une seule instance dans le cadre d’une organisation intergouvernementale; à savoir "ONU femme".

The United Nations and its various bodies have worked to provide the necessary protection to women in times of peace and war, including the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), the International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (INSTRAW) and others. However, these bodies have remained and still have not achieved their desired goals of enhancing the position of women within different societies. In a new step for the United Nations and to fulfill the opinion of one of the women human rights defenders, the United Nations General Assembly finally, following the efforts of human rights defenders and women from governmental and non-governmental organizations, took action to create a new entity dedicated to gender equality and women's empowerment. On 02 /07/2010, the General Assembly agreed to establish one governmental organization body, "UN Women". This abstract was translated by AlMandumah Inc.
