Le conseil de la concurrence – comme autorité administrative à compétence générale – est chargé de garantir le bon fonctionnement de la concurrence. Pour ce but, il est chargé d’empêcher les pratiques restrictives de la concurrence, ainsi les concentrations économiques ayant rapport avec les différents secteurs de l’activité économique. En revanche, ce rôle semble ambigu dans le secteur bancaire plus que tous autres secteurs économiques; tant que le secteur bancaire subit une réglementation spéciale et un contrôle strict exercé par des organismes spécialisés.

As an independent administrative authority with general competence, the Competition Council is entrusted with ensuring the smooth running of the competition. For this reason, it has been charged with curbing the restrictive practices that hinder competition and the economic aggregates affecting them in various sectors of economic activity. However, this role appears to be unclear in the banking sector more than in any other economic sector, as the banking sector is subject to special regulation and strict control exercised by specialized agencies.
