المستخلص: Camus unfinished and posthumous work, which is regarded as a sort of education in its form by the author, is actually a detailed description of the joys and sorrows of the youth in French Algeria in the shadow of a mythical father who successively replaced his tyrannical grandmother, his maternal uncle and a schoolteacher. The character Jacques Cormery is in search of identity through that of his family members. The present work will attempt to examine how identity is formed in the text, as a subject describing his life, and also the discourse as an interlocutor via examining a few textual elements of the utterances, of narration and poetical ones.

Dans ce dernier ouvrage inachevé et posthume d’Albert Camus, envisagé par lui comme une sorte d’éducation dans sa forme, est une description détaillée des joies et des peines d’une jeunesse en Algérie «française», dans l’ombre d’un père mythique auquel se sont substitués successivement: sa grand-mère tyrannique, son oncle maternel et un maitre d’école. Le personnage Jacques Cormery est à la recherche d’une identité au travers de celle de sa famille. Nous allons essayer d’examiner comment se construit l’identité dans ce texte, en tant que sujet qui décrit sa vie, mais aussi en tant que discours - d’un locuteur- à travers l’examen de quelques éléments textuels de l’énonciation, de la narration et de la poétique.
