|a بدأ الباحث بحثه بالحديث عن الشعر من حيث تعريفه ونشأته وتاريخه ثم بيان أنواعه وأغراضه في القديم والحديث، ثم تعرض لذكر الأحاديث التي أثنت على الشعر والشعراء، ثم بيان الأحاديث التي وردت في ذم الشعر والشعراء مع توجيهها وبيان درجتها من حيث القبول والرد، وموقف العلماء منها، ثم تطرق لبيان حكم السنة في الشعر والشعراء وأن الحكم يختلف بحسب اختلاف أغراض الشعر وأنواعه، وأن الشعر كلام حسنه حسن وقبيحه قبيح.
