المستخلص: In the current world of global flows, the cultural heritage stands as a landmark of nations. Algeria, a country at the crossroads of civilisations, has historically held a rich and diverse cultural heritage. The paper aims to investigate the globalisation process of the Algerian cultural heritage (ACH). To reach such an aim, the research considers the UNESCO actions to safeguard and globalise the ACH as a heritage belonging to all humankind. It then covers the course of the UNESCO inscriptions of the ACH ensuing the documentation of the World Heritage Convention of 1972. Accordingly, seven Algerian historical sites and monuments are classified in the World Heritage List from 1972 to 1992. The paper finds out that the role of the UNESCO 1972 convention, despite its focus on the tangible, was (and still is) crucial in the globalising and safeguarding of the ACH. Besides, its earlier ratification by the Algerian authorities evidences their awareness of the significance of cultural heritage toward the global dynamics.
