Before thinking about growth and quality improvement, the reasonable bank must, today, above all, know how to manage its risks through an adequate and well organized management system which should be set up, allowing a structured approach to secure the achievement of objectives. This article highlights the power of the operational cartography of risks as an internal management tool, and the necessity of its implementation to improve the bank's performance. To achieve this, we used the "SCORECARD" method, applied to the bank transfer process at the National Bank of Algeria. The result indicated the existence of high risks areas, and which needs rapid corrective actions and very close monitoring, it is also necessary to set up an annually updated global cartography of operational risks, in order to increase the visibility related to the risks associated with other operations.
