In this paper a design and an implementation of an underwater wireless optical communication system has studied. This employed wavelengths (650, 532, 405) nm with optical power (50) mw, (7) mw and (6) mw respectively. It modulated by intensity modulation /direct detection IM / DD. The information signal about (3.3) kHz in the transmitter circuit which is converted to an electrical signal through modulation technique then transmit to laser diode. A photoresistor has used in the receiver side to converted the optical signal to an electrical signal. A water tank filled with (80 liter) covered with a black paint in order to mitigate the ambient light to pass through the tank water. A Maalox particle has added to the proposed tap water with different concentration are (0.5, 1, 1.5, 2) ml in order to increase the turbidity of water and emulate the environment of natural water. The results show that the maximum transmission link reaches to (7) m for tap water then the utilized wavelengths has a good performance due to water channel. In the case of turbid water, the longest wavelength (650) nm demonstrates best performance with (27.12) dB along (2) m. in contrast with tap water another wavelength outperforms on 650nm wavelength. |
