Psychological resilience and inter-personal intelligence are basic concepts in the present study, however, the concept of psychological resilience has been explained according to Piener's model (2007), as for the concept of inter-personal intelligence, it has been explained according to Gardener theory (1983). The present research aims at knowing the following: 1- Psychological resilience of university students. 2- Inter-personal intelligence of university students 3- The nature of the correlational relationship between psychological resilience and inter-personal intelligence of university students according to gender (male/female) and specialization (scientific/humanity). 4- The difference in the relationship between psychological resilience and inter-personal intelligence of university students according to gender (male/female) and specialization (scientific/humanity). 5- The predictive power of the inter-personal intelligence in the total variance of psychological resilience of university students. The present research is limited to the students of Al-mustansiriya University in the academic year 2017/2018, morning study, according to gender (male/female) and specialization (scientific/humanity). In order to attain these objectives, the researcher has adopted Piener scale (2007) which is translated to the Arabic by Al-Zuheiri (2012) for measuring psychological resilience which consists of (49) items distributed on three components (external support, internal forces, skills, and interpersonal problem solving). After has been adapted on university students, through exposing it on a number of experts in educational psychology and personality measurement and assessment. As for the concept of inter-personal intelligence, the researcher has adopted the scale of (Gardener, 1983) translated into Arabic by (Al- Hashimi, 2010), which consists of (45) items. The validity of the two scales has been ascertained to make it appropriate for the Iraqi environment. Pearson coefficient correlation of the scales has been ascertained in order to count the relation between the item grade with the total grade of the scales and the grade of the item with the total grade of the component that it belongs to. The researcher has ascertained from the discriminatory power of the items of the two scales and knowing the differences between the two variables according to gender and specialization and their validity coefficients, through using face and construct validity and administering the scales on (400) male and female students, chosen by using the randomly stratified style. The researcher has ascertained the reliability of the scales by using two means: test re-test and by using Alpha- Cronbach formula, for measuring the reliability of the two scales. The results show the following:- 1- T-calculated value (38.668) is higher than the tabulated value (1.96) which indicates the sample has psychological resilience. 2- T-calculated value (73.167) is higher than the tabulated value (1.96) which indicates the sample has inter-personal intelligence. 3- There is a correlational relationship between psychological resilience and inter-personal intelligence in university students. 4- There is no statically significant difference in the relationship between psychological resilience and inter-personal intelligence in university students according to gender (male/female) and specialization (scientific/humanity). 5- The dependent variable inter-personal intelligence has been affected by the independent variable, psychological resilience. In the light of the afore-mentioned results, the researcher has arrived at a number of recommendations and suggestions. |
