|b Many social factors influence the use of language, such as age, gender, religion, level of education and region. The current study is an endeavor to investigate the role of gender in the use of euphemism in Iraqi Arabic. It was based partially on the study of Al-Azzeh (2010). A quantitative method was adopted with a questionnaire that consisted of 19 questions. The sample of the study was 150 native speakers of Iraqi Arabic, 85 males and 65 females. After data collection, they were encoded and analyzed through a descriptive analysis using (SPSS). The findings of the study showed that IA speakers use euphemisms in their social interactions but also they still need to raise their awareness of that use. It was proved that gender influences the use of euphemism. Women tend to euphemize their expressions more than men but this does not happen always and not necessary applied to all the categories of communication. It was recommended that further study be undertaken to investigate the use of euphemisms in relation to other social factors.
