|a موضوع الزمان والدهر... من الموضوعات التي شغلت الشعراء القدامى والمحدثين على حد سواء، تناولوا فيها الشكوى لما أصابهم من مصائب، ونزل فيهم من نوائب، بيد أنهم لم يقفوا عليها وقفة متأنية معمقة؛ فهم لا يكادون يغادرون موضوع الشكوى والتوجع إلا في حالات نادرة. أما المتنبي فقد وقف على هذا الموضوع كما وقف الشعراء عليه مقلدا، لكنه أكثر منه مطورا، وزاد عليه مجددا، فلا تكاد تخلو قصيدة منه؛ وهو القائل: [من الطويل] ألا ليت شعري هل أقول قصيدة فلا أشتكي فيما ولا أتعتب!؟ وتعود هذه القضايا إلى أسباب كثيرة منها: نفسية، وشخصية متمثلة في أن الزمن لم يقدم له شيئا، ولم يسعفه في تحقيق طموحاته، ونيل مطالبه بالإضافة إلى علاقته بالناس عامة، والأمراء والحساد خاصة، فقد نقم عليهم؛ لأنهم لم يحققوا آماله؛ لأن الزمن وقف معهم ضده، ولهذا يرى أن الشكوى والعتب قد يخففان مما يعاني منه، ويريحان النفس، مع أن الشاعر على يقين بأن الشكوى لا تفيد، والعتب لا يجدي، فهي حالة نفسية ضاغطة تخرج نفثات ألم ومعاناة وضيق. لقد استقصى المتنبي هذا الموضوع من جميع جوانبه من حيث: الشكوى من الزمن، وتحمله إياه والصبر عليه، ومواجهته، وتحديه له؛ وازدراؤه، ذلك بسبب المعاناة النفسية الكبيرة التي كابدها في ظل ظروف صعبة، إذ لم يعد بإمكانه القبول بالمسلمات التي لم تجلب معها إلا قسوة الظلم والقهر، والأسى والعذاب، والشقاء والحرمان، ولذلك كله تعامل معها تعامل الخبير العارف، والمكابد الصابر، بكل حكمة وأناة، ما جعله يقف مثل الجبل الأشم أمام هذه التحديات، ويحقق بعضا مما كان يطمع إليه ويطمح.
|b The passing of time and life are one of the topics that preoccupied the old and modern poets alike. In these topics, they constantly, discussed their complaints from the hardships & misfortunes they have suffered and experienced. As other of his contemporaries, Al-Mutanabbi, who is one of the most prominent Arab poets, discussed this issue as an imitator, yet he developed his own style. These issues involve many personal and psychological reasons as time did not serve him, nor did it give him anything. In fact, he was full of vindictive feelings against people who envied him because he believed they didn’t allow him to achieve his hopes and aspirations. This made him see that complaint and reproach could mitigate his suffering and relieve the poet though not change things. On the other hand, Al-Mutanabbi went to the root of this topic in all its aspects where he complains so much of the rapid passing of time, and how this causes suffering and puts his patience with time under a difficult test. The poet's confrontation with time and finally, his contempt of it were due to the serious psychological suffering he faced in very difficult circumstances. As in view of the fact, that he was unable to surrender to the postulates and axioms that have only brought him severity, injustice, subjugation, grief, torture, lowness & deprivation.
