المستخلص: التغيير نحو الأفضل مطلب ضروري في حياة الإنسان. وتحقيقه يحتاج إلى استعدادات نفسية وفكرية وإرادة ومؤهلات وقدرات وإيمان قوي به من الذين يريدون تحقيقه. والسبل التي تؤدي إليه كثيرة ومختلفة باختلاف الظروف الاجتماعية والتاريخية والثقافية التي يكون عليها أي مجتمع. ولا يخلو أي تغيير من عقبات وصعوبات وربما يحتاج إلى تضحيات كثيرة. في هذين العملين القصصيين اللذين نحن بصدد دراستهما وتحليلهما يعالج الكاتبان بمقدرة فائقة ووعي عملية التغيير والتحول والتبدل في شخصية الإنسان، ويختاران شخصيتين من شخصيات المجتمع التي لا يتوقع المرء أن تكونا قادرتين على التغيير نظرا لتقدمهما في العمر، وكونهما شخصيتين عاديتين، بسيطتين، مسالمتين لا قيمة لهما في المجتمع. ويضعانهما في ظروف قاسية وصعبة، على محك مع الحياة والخيارات الصعبة، بل يضعانهما في امتحان الذات وقدراتها وإخراج ما فيها من طاقات وإمكانات. ينجح الكاتبان في تحقيق ما صبوان إليه من اكتشاف النفس البشرية وما تملكه من قدرات كامنة وطاقات مدهشة. كما تنجح هاتان الشخصيتان في الانتصار على الضعف الذي كانتا تشعران به في حياتهما، والخروج من الذات الضيقة إلى الذات الكبيرة، إلى العالم الأرحب والأوسع، ويولد صمتهما الدائم أعذب الكلام وأرقه، وتفيضان على الجميع بالحب والخير. وأصبحت هاتان الشخصيتان قدوة ومثالا لأي إنسان عرفهما أو سمع بهما في التضحية والفداء من أجل أن تحيا الكلمة الصادقة والفعل النبيل. في هذه الدراسة المقارنة قدمت قراءة جديدة لعملية التغيير وسبلها في رواية "الأم" لمكسيم غوركي وقصة "أغاته شفايغرت" لأنا زيغرس. آملاً أن يكون فيها فائدة للقارئ عامة، ولدراسي الآداب العالمية والأدب المقارن خاصة، وأن تسهم كغيرها من الدراسات في إغناء المكتبة العربية في هذه المجالات.

Change for the better is a necessary condition in human life. Achieving this requires psychological and intellectual preparation, the will, skills, abilities and a firm belief of those who seek to achieve it. The ways to achieve this are various and diverse depending on the social, historical and cultural conditions that a society has. With every change there are obstacles, difficulties and possibly victims. In the two literary works we examine and analyze, the authors deal with the ability and awareness of the process of change and transformation of the human personality; the authors select two personalities from society who can never be expected to change due to their age, and simply, because they are peaceful and not important in the community, and they put these two characters in harsh and difficult conditions, and put life and difficult decisions to the test, so they undergo self-examination and explore their skills and potential. The authors manage to achieve what they want to discover the human soul and its potential and abilities. These two individuals also manage to overcome the weakness they have felt in their lives, and to move from the narrow self into the larger self and the wider world. From their steadfast silence comes the most beautiful words and all the love and goodness. These two became an example of honesty, determination and self-sacrifice for everyone in love, so that the true word and the noble deed will forever prevail in life. In this comparative study, in the novel "The Mother" by Maxim Gorky and in the story of "Agathe Schweigert" by Anna Seghers, a new reading of the process of change and its ways was presented, in the hope that it benefits the reader in general and those who are concerned with world literature and comparative literature in particular. The study is a manifestation of how other studies contribute to the enrichment of the Arabic library in these areas.
