تعد فترة تأسيس مجلس الأعمار في العراق عام ١٩٥٠ الانطلاقة الحقيقية في تبني تخطيط العديد من المشاريع التنموية ومنها الصناعة وتوزيعها جغرافيا نحو المحافظات الفقيرة لتنميتها وتنويع اقتصادياتها، وتعد فترة السبعينات ازدهار الصناعة العراقية وتنبؤ مكانتها في الأسواق الإقليمية والدولية مما ساهم في ازدياد القيمة المضافة وتنويع الوفورات الاقتصادية فضلا عن زيادة فرص العمل للأيدي العاملة وفي جميع المحافظات والتوجه نحو الصناعات الثقيلة ومنها الصناعات الميكانيكية والحديد والصلب والبتروكيمياوية وتعد فترة الثمانينات وما بعدها بداية الانحدار الاقتصادي بسبب الحروب العبثية والحصار الاقتصادي وانتهاء" بالاحتلال الأمريكي عام ٢٠٠٣ التدهور الحقيقي لجميع الأنشطة الاقتصادية، وبالتالي أصبح اقتصاد البلد ريعيا اعتمادا على واردات النفط لأكثر من 90% مما زاد من مشاكل البلد وأبرزها زيادة حجم البطالة وفتح جميع الأسواق المحلية للمنتوج الأجنبي صناعيا وزراعيا وهنا بفعل عوامل داخلية وخارجية لأضعاف البلد بكافة قطاعاته الاقتصادية.
The Period of Founding Reconstruction Board in 1950 in Iraq was Considered the Starting point in adopting many developmental projects including Industry together with distributing these projects into different geographical poor governorates for the purpose of developing these projects economically. On the one hand, the 70'S is considered the period of flourishing Iraqi Industry in particular and International and local market places in general. This fact led to an increase in Added value and diversification of economic abundance as well as an Increase in employment opportunities for lab our force throughout Iraqi Governorates and the importance of heavy industry orientation including Mechanical Industry, Iron and steel and Petrochemicals. On the other hand, the 80'S is considered the beginning of economic decline due to the absurd wars and sanctions ending with the American occupation in 2003 where the real deterioration emerges for all economic activities. Accordingly, the country economy became Revenue generating economy which is based on oil imports with (90%) which has aggravated the problems of the country. Most notably, an increase in unemployment, and opening all local Markets for foreign products due to internal and external factors have weakened the country with all its economic sectors.
