المستخلص: The aim of this article is to study the relationship between migration and innovation within the Mediteranean countries. Theoretically, the relationship is presented based on the existing littérature in addition to the osmosis theory framework. Empirically, the co-integration tests, the estimations, and the causality analysis were applied on a panel data regrouping 13 Mediteranean countries during the period 1962-2012. The results have confirmed a strong relationship at the long-term and a one way causality between innovation and migration at the short-term. Economically, during the studied period, innovation is a sub-determinant of migration pressure rather than a consequence of migration.

Le but de cet article est de vérifier l’existence des relations entre la migration et l’innovation entre les pays de la méditerranée. Théoriquement, La relation est présentée sur la base de la littérature existante ainsi que dans le contexte de la théorie de l’osmose. Empiriquement, les tests de cointégration, d’estimation et de causalité sont appliqués sur une base de données en panel de 13 pays méditerranéens entre 1962 et 2012. Les résultats ont confirmé une relation forte à long termes, ainsi qu’une relation de causalité unidirectionnelle entre l’innovation et la migration à court termes. Economiquement, durant la période étudiée, l’innovation est plutôt un sous-facteur de pression migratoire dans les pays du nord qu’une conséquence de la migration.
