|a إن لدراسة أدوات العطف أهمية لا تخفى على الدارسين لما لها من أثر كبير في ربط الكلمات بعضها ببعض. لذلك أتحفنا علماء العربية بكتب ورسائل كثيرة تناولتها بالبحث والدراسة فضلا عن الدراسات الحديثة التي اختص القسم الأكبر منها بدراسة حروف المعاني التي تعد جزءا من الأدوات، وهذه الأدوات كثيرة الدوران في الكلام، ولا تكاد تخلو جملة أو عبارة من حرف جر أو حرف عطف أو أداة توكيد أو نفي أو أداة استفهام، وغير ذلك. إن موضوع أدوات العطف واسع وقد تناولتها العلوم العربية والقرآنية، وقد اعتنى الدكتور زهير زاهد بجانب منها، إذ بين أثر تعدد دلالاتها، وأثر استعمالها في الجملة كما سيرد لاحقا."
|b The study of conjunctions is of great importance to scholars because of their great impact on linking words together. Therefore, Arab scholars have provided us with many books and letters that I have dealt with in research and study, in addition to recent studies, the bulk of which specializes in studying the letters of meanings that are part of the tools. Or negation, question mark, and so on. The subject of sympathy tools is broad and has been dealt with by Arabic and Quranic sciences, and Dr. Zuhair Zahid took care of an aspect of it, as he showed the effect of its multiplicity of connotations, and the effect of its use in the sentence, as will be described later."
