المستخلص: "تعد ظاهرة الوقف إحدى الظواهر المميزة للغة العربية، وكذلك اللغة العبرية، قال الأستاذ حنون مبارك: ((ولأن للوقف في اللغة العربية مكانة وعناية خاصتين لما له من تأثير مباشر على اللفظ، إذ يترك أثرا خاصا على المتواليات الصوتية الموقوف عليها- وهذا الأمر لا نظير له في اللغات الأخرى باستثناء العبرية فيما نعلم-))"". وبما أن القرآن الكريم يعد عند أهل الإسلام أصل الأصول، فقد خدمه أهله بما لم يخدم كتاب في العالمين، حيث ظهرت علوم عدة خدمت النص القرآني؛ ومن بين هاته العلوم علم الوقف الذي يعالج جانبا مهما من أداء تلاوة القرآن، كما يساهم في استقامة المعنى، إذ بمعرفة ما يجب الوقف عليه وما يقبح يظهر المعنى المراد؛ إذا لا يتبين معنى كلام ويتم على أكمل وجه إلا بذلك، فربما قارئ يقرأ ويقف قبل تمام المعنى فلا يفهم هو ما يقول ولا يفهمه السامع، بل ربما يفهم من ذلك غير المعنى المراد، وهذا فساد عظيم، ولهذا اعتنى بعلمه وتعليمه والعمل به المتقدمون والمتأخرون وألفوا فيه من الدواوين ما لا يعد كثرة، ومن لم يلتفت لهذا ويقف حيث شاء فقد حرق الإجماع وحاد عن إتقان القراءة وتمام التجويد."

"The waqf phenomenon is one of the distinctive phenomena of the Arabic language, as well as the Hebrew language, Professor Hanoun Mubarak said: ((Because the endowment in the Arabic language has a special status and care because it has a direct effect on the pronunciation, as it leaves a special effect on the phonemic sequences on which it is arrested- and this matter is unparalleled. In other languages, except for Hebrew, as far as we know)). And since the Noble Qur’an is regarded by the people of Islam as the origin of the fundamentals, its people have served it in a way that did not serve a book in the two worlds, as several sciences appeared that served the Qur’an text. Among these sciences is the science of endowment, which deals with an important aspect of the performance of the recitation of the Qur’an, and also contributes to the integrity of the meaning, because by knowing what a waqf is required and what is abhorrent reveals the intended meaning. If the meaning of a speech does not become clear and complete without that, then perhaps a reader reads and stands before the meaning is complete, and he does not understand what he says and the listener does not understand it. There are collections in it that are not counted as a large number, and whoever does not pay attention to this and stands where he wishes has violated the consensus and strayed from mastering the reading and completing the intonation."
