|b The output gap is an unobservable indicator that allows measuring the pressures on production capacity. This gap is the difference between the observed production (in volume) and the potential output that must be the subject of a quantitative estimate. Potential GDP highlights inflationary or deflationary pressures; it also allows an analysis of the economic cycle. Quantitative methods such as filtering and modelling, estimate the Potential output. This document describes the different methods of estimating potential output by focusing on the Hodrick-Prescott filter; it also aims to highlight the role of potential GDP in the definition and conduct of monetary and fiscal policies. It also provides an estimate of Algerian potential GDP.
|d L’écart de production est un indicateur non observable qui permet d’évaluer les pressions qui s’exercent sur la capacité de production, il est représenté par la différence entre la production observée (en volume) et la production potentielle, cette dernière fait l’objet d’une estimation quantitative. Le PIB potentiel met en exergue les pressions inflationnistes ou déflationnistes, il permet aussi d’élaborer une analyse du cycle économique. La production potentielle doit être estimée par des méthodes quantitatives comme le filtrage et la modélisation. Ce Document relate les différentes méthodes d’estimation de la production potentielle en mettant l’accent sur le filtre de Hodrick– Prescott, il vise aussi à faire ressortir le rôle du PIB potentiel dans la définition et la conduite des politiques monétaires et budgétaires, il fournit aussi une estimation du PIB potentiel algérien.
