المستخلص: This paper gives an overview of the method of exploitation of the shale oil and shale gas. Unknown to the general public, because of their high technological complexity, the unconventional hydrocarbons technics are detailed in this article in a simplified way. Through the three parts of this article, starting from the technologies used to the environmental consideration to arrive at the uncontrolled development of this activity, which affects actually urban areas, the aim was to see the environmental impact of this sector from the political and environmental views. since the two dimensions fit together and make the news in recent years. The Algeria as an example of MENA remains one of the most disposed countries to receive this type of industry.

Ce travail donne un aperçu sur le mode d’exploration et d’exploitation du pétrole et gaz du schiste. Inconnu au grand public, vu leur grande complexité technologique, les techniques des hydrocarbures non conventionnels sont détaillées dans cet article de façon simplifiée. A travers les trois parties de cet article, en partant des technologies utilisées aux nuisances environnementales jusqu’au développement incontrôlé de cette activité qui touche désormais des zones urbanisées, il a été question de voir l’impact environnemental de cette filière d’un point de vue politico environnemental vu que les deux dimensions s’imbriquent et font l’actualité depuis quelques années. L’Algérie en tant qu’exemple des pays de la MENA reste l’un des pays les plus disposés à recevoir ce type d’industrie.
