المستخلص: تشهد التحولات التي مر بها الأرشيف بمدى انخراط أسلاك الموظفين الذين وقع على عاتقهم تسيير الأرصدة الأرشيفية منذ الاستقلال. يرجع الفضل للزملاء الأرشيفيين الأوائل القيام بجرد مرحلة ما بعد الاستعمار التكفل بالوظائف وتقييم عمل قل ما يجد من يقيمه لا سيما عدم الفهم من طرف إدارات تمتاز بالجحود وعديمة الإحساس بأهمية الأرشيف لها هي بالذات ولتاريخها خاصة ولمجتمعها وبلدها. إن حماس الشباب سرعان ما اصطدم بخيبة أمل في حياة مهنية عويصة صاحبها شعور بأداء للعمل بدون إنجاز باهر يذكر. وعند نهاية سنوات من الجد والكد (نهاية سيرة مهنية بمحض الاختيار أو مجبرين على ذلك)، من التحديات ومن التصميم يستوجب على هؤلاء الأرشيفيين الذين وضع بعض منهم خبراتهم في خدمة دول أخرى، من إعطاء نظرة أخرى لمهنة الأرشيفي ومزاولتها ضمن إطار خاص بالجزائر. لكن ومن المفارقات أن هذا الحال لا يبدو للأجيال اللاحقة إلا من خلال نماذج لمحترفين رسموا طريقا يجب اتباعه ومن خلال كذلك الجهد الذي بذلوه لإبراز مجال، نشاط ومهنة من الأهمية بمكان في تسيير المعلومة وفي تثمين التراث وكذلك في حفظ الذاكرة. لقد ساهموا في تكوين أجيال كاملة على المستوى الوطني والدولي (العربي منه خاصة).

The changes that the archival system has undergone are to testify to the degree of involvement of the bodies and status of those who have been responsible of managing archival records since the independence. Our colleagues, early archivists, had the merit of making this post-colonial inventory, to establish functional structures and to value a work that is not often rewarding; and above all to be subjected to the incomprehension of an ungrateful administration which is often unaware of the importance of archives and the history of a society, and that of a country. The youthful enthusiasm quickly turned into disenchantment and at times a sense of bitterness of an unaccomplished professional life was established whereby work was done in due time but no personal fulfillment was felt. And after long years of hard work (of a desired or forced end of career), challenges and commitments, some of these archivists who have put their expertise at the service of other countries, both in terms of skills and training, should have an alternative perspective on the profession of archivist and its practice in a context specific to Algeria. Paradoxically though this observation does not appear to the following generations except through singular figures of professionals having established the way to follow and having made the effort needed to develop a field, an activity, or a profession of a paramount importance in the management of information, in the valuation of a patrimony, and in the preservation of memory. They have contributed to the training of entire generations both on the national and international (especially Arab) level.

Les mutations par lesquelles est passée l’archivistique sont là pour témoigner du degré d’implication des corps et statuts des personnes ayant eu la responsabilité de gérer des fonds d’archives depuis l’indépendance. Nos collègues, archivistes de première heure, ont eu le mérite de faire cet inventaire post-colonial, d’asseoir des structures fonctionnelles et valoriser un travail pas souvent valorisant et surtout d’affronter l’incompréhension face à une administration ingrate et peu consciente de l’importance des archives pour elle-même et sa propre histoire et celle d’une société, d’un pays L’enthousiasme de jeunesse a vite fait dans le désenchantement et parfois l’amertume d’une vie professionnelle pas tout à fait accomplie… avec le sentiment du travail fait mais sans accomplissement personnel. Et, au terme d’un certain nombre d’années de labeur (d’une fin de carrière souhaitée ou forcée), de défis et d’engagements, ces archivistes, dont certains ont mis leur compétence au service d’autres pays, sur le plan de l’expertise et de la formation, doivent porter un autre regard sur le métier d’archiviste et son exercice dans un contexte propre à l’Algérie. Mais, paradoxalement, ce constat n’apparait aux générations suivantes qu’à travers l’image de figures singulières de professionnels ayant tracé la voie à suivre et ayant fait l’effort qu’il faut pour faire émerger un domaine, une activité, un métier d’une importance capitale dans la gestion de l’information, dans la valorisation d’un patrimoine, dans la préservation d’une mémoire. Ils ont contribué à la formation de générations entières au plan national et international (notamment arabe).
