المستخلص: ركز البحث على الدوافع والأسباب المؤدية إلى السقوط من خلال حقـل فلسفة التاريخ متعرضا إلى أراء أهم فلاسفة التاريخ. ابتدأ البحث بتعريف فلسفة التاريخ وعلاقتها بعلم التاريخ وأهدافها العامة. ثم تطرق إلى نظريات فلسفة التاريخ التي صبت جهدها لمعرفة القوانين أو السنن المتحكمة في حركة التاريخ والعوامل التي تنقل المجتمع من مرحلة إلى أخرى. الشق الأخر من البحث هو التفسير الإسلامي لحركة التاريخ وأسباب سقوط الدول ابتداء من القرآن الكريم مرورا بفلسفة الإمام علي (عليه السلام) التي كانت أكثـر دقـة وتفصيلا لعوامل النهوض وملامـح الانهيـار التي اسماها (مصارع القرون) ثم تناول البحث أراء المفكرين المسلمين الذين سبقوا ابن خلدون في هذا الباب.

The research focused on the motives and causes leading to the downfall through the field of philosophy of history, exposed to the opinions of the most important philosophers of history. The research began by defining the philosophy of history and its relationship to the science of history and its general objectives. Then he touched on the theories of the philosophy of history, which focused its efforts on finding out the laws or norms that control the movement of history and the factors that move society from one stage to another The other part of the research is the Islamic interpretation of the movement of history and the causes of the fall of states, starting from the Holy Qur'an through the philosophy of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, which was more accurate and detailed for the factors of advancement and features of collapse, which he called (the gladiator of the centuries). Then the research dealt with the opinions of Muslim thinkers who preceded Ibn Khaldun in this Section.
