المستخلص: The pharmaceutical industry is an important strategic industry. Egypt started in it decades ago and made progress in the sixties of the last century. However, there has been a deterioration and decline in the performance of government pharmaceutical companies affiliated to the business sector. While narrow interests have controlled the performance of private pharmaceutical companies, Which controls the largest proportion of the Egyptian pharmaceutical industries, Therefore, this sector is considered one of the largest sectors that witness monopolistic practices, Which is reflected in the lack of rational use of medicines, Drug prices have doubled in the last three years and drug shortage problems, This paper reviews the most important problems in the pharmaceutical sector and the alternatives that can be applied to solve these problems.
