يهدف البحث إلى بيان خطورة أثر الفكر السياسي للأباطرة الرومان في تحريف العقيدة النصرانية، ودورهم في عقد المجامع المسكونية وتوجيه قراراتها وفق النفوذ السياسي والموروث الوثني، مما أدى إلى زيادة الشقاق والنزاع والانقسام والانحراف عن المنهج الصحيح، كما أظهر البحث خطر التنافس السياسي على السلطة الدينية والتي من شأنها ساهمت، في عقود المجامع وإصدار قرارات الحرمان واللعن والطرد للطرف الآخر، وتوصلت إلى مجموعة من النتائج أبرزها: المجامع النصرانية كانت بيد الأباطرة والملوك يسخرونها تثبيتا لسلطانهم السياسي، ولم تستند المجامع النصرانية على أدلة ونصوص صريحة، وأقوال رجال الدين للبحث عن الحقيقة، وإنما وفق ما يميل إليه الأباطرة حسب توجههم السياسي، مما زاد ذلك في تحريف العقيدة وتشريع أحكام ما أنزل الله بها من سلطان.
The current research aims to demonstrate the seriousness of the Roman emperors' political thought impact in distorting of the Christian belief, and their role in holding ecumenical councils and directing their decisions according to political influence and pagan heritage, that led to an increase in discord, conflict, division and deviation from the right approach. The research also revealed the danger of political competition on the religious authority that contributed to hold councils and issuing decisions of deprivation, cursing, and expulsion of the other party. The research showed a number of findings, most prominent of which are: the Christian councils were in the hands of emperors and kings, they used them to establish their political authority. The Christian councils were not based on evidence, explicit texts, the sayings of the clergy to search for the truth, but according to what the emperors' tendencies according to their political orientation, that increased in distorting the faith and legislating the provisions that God did not send down.
