المستخلص: إن مجالسة خلفاء بني العباس ومنادمتهم للفترة موضوع البحث هي من الموضوعات المهمة التي لفت نظر الباحث، وذلك من خلال اطلاعه على كتب التراث، إذ وجد فيها نصوصاً مفيدة وممتعةـ، على الرغم من أنها متناثرة في مصادر عدة، إلا أنها كانت تشده لمتابعة ما كان يدرر في تلك المجالس من ضروب العلم وفنون الأدب، ولما كان يضبطها من آداب ورسوم. وهذا الموضوع-على حد علم الباحث-لم يتناوله أحد بدراسة مفصلة، متخصصة، تقف على تفاصيله، الأمر الذي شجعه على البحث فيه.
ومما ينبغي تأكيده هنا، أن الباحث، إذ يتحدث عن دوافع اختياره لهذا البحث، وعن دور الحجاب في إدخال المترددين إلى مجالس الخلفاء، وعن كيفية الاستئذان في الدخول إليها، والآداب التي يتوجب مراعاتها، سواء في المجالس أم في أثناء المنادمة، فلابد إذن من الإشارة إلى ما اعترضه-عبر إنجاز هذا البحث-من صعوبات سواء منها ما يرجع إلى طبيعة البحث، واتساعه، وغزارة مادته، وتنوع مصادره، أم إلى تداخل مادته وتشابكها.
وعلى الرغم من حرص الخلفاء على ضبط مجالسهم، ومنادميهم، مما يمتلكون من آداب ورسوم، إلا أن جلساءهم لم يكونوا كلهم سواء في التقيد بآداب المجالسة، ورسوم المنادمة، إذ كان بعضهم يخرج عن الآداب، وبسيء التصرف في بعض لحظات الطرب.

The subject of the Abbasid Caliphs, courtiers and intimate companionship, is an amusing one which attracted the researcher through his outlook of the heritage sources. In these books, useful and interesting texts were scattered in different sources. Those texts atractively made him follow up what was going on in those intimate companionships of different kind of science and literature, in addition to whatever controlled their manners. Such a subject, to the knowledge of the researcher, is still untouched as no one has worked on it in a separate scientific work. Therefore, the researchcr was encouraged to work on it.
It is important to stress here, that the researcher while he speaks about motivation for selecting of this subject, and the role of “al-Hujjab” (The caliph’s receptionist) to permit those who regularly attend the caliph's, intimate companionship. On the other hand, he has shed some light on the way by which they were permitted into the companionship, and the politeness they must exercise whether inside the companionship, or during the intimate association. Therefore, it should be noted here that the researcher was faced with different kind of diffieculties connected to the nature of the research, its vast material and variable sources or to the interdigitation of its material.
Although the caliphs were careful enough to control their companionships and their intimate courtiers with what they own of courtly manners, their intimate companions were not all alike, to pay heed to their restrictions. In other words, some of them would deviate from the line of politeness and in some delightful moments they will commit a sort of misconduct. Such behaviour would probably be encouraged by the indulgence of some of the caliphs in warbling distraction.
