|a رأت الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية أن من الضروري ترسيخ نفوذها في مصر منذ العقد الأول من القرن العشرين وكان وراء ذلك التوجه أهداف بعيدة المدى أهمها إقامة مؤسسات ثقافية وتعليمية لنشر الثقافة الأمريكية في المحافظات المصرية كونها بيئة خصبة للأنشطة الثقافية، فبدأت بإقامة المدارس الأمريكية والجمعيات الأدبية وإنشاء الجامعة الأمريكية في مصر التي أدت دورا كبيرا في مصر مما أحدث جدلا بين الأوساط الثقافية المصرية فمنهم من عدها بأنها ضمن اطار التبادل الثقافي بين الدولتين ومنهم من عدها بأن واجبها بوليسيا الأمر الذي اضطر الرئيس جمال عبد الناصر إلى التدخل الشخصي لحسم ذلك الجدل وباتت واحدة من المؤسسات الثقافية التعليمية المهمة في مصر إلى يومنا هذا. والى جانب تلك المؤسسات الثقافية والتربوية نشطت مؤسستي فورد وفرانكلين فضلا عن نشاط الصحافة والفن في مصر لمدة الدراسة. وتلك محاور البحث الموسوم (اهتمام الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بأوجه النشاط الثقافي في مصر ١٩٥٦-١٩٧٠).
|b The United States of America considered it necessary to consolidate its influence in Egypt since the first decade of the twentieth century, and behind this trend was far reaching goals, the most important of which is the establishment of cultural and educational institutions to spread American culture in the Egyptian governorates, as it is a fertile environment for cultural activities. In Egypt, which played a major role in Egypt, which caused controversy among the Egyptian cultural circles, some of them considered it to be within the framework of the cultural exchange between the two countries, and some considered it a police duty, which forced President Gamal Abdel Nasser to personal intervention to resolve that controversy, and it became one of the educational cultural institutions The mission in Egypt to this day.
