Financial globalization that began in the 1980s has accentuated the volatility of the current financial markets, as they have become more dynamic and integrated because of the financial globalization that has increased the number of players involved in these markets and operations performed on these. Institutional investors are an important category and influence the financial markets because of the large amounts they drain on them. In addition, pension hinds invest more than 50% of the financial markets, so can they partly explain the volatility that characterizes globalized financial markets? This paper empirically explores the impact of pension hinds on US market volatility using ARDL model on data time series begin in 1980 to 2017. Indeed, financial globalization has reinforced the decisive role played by the various institutional investors, in particular, pension hinds, these latter invest more than 50% of the financial markets, and so can they partly explain the volatility that characterizes globalized financial markets? The results show a positive and statistically significant relationship between market volatility and pension assets, wish is in line with the literature. |
