المستخلص: يطلق على العمل التطوعي بأنه القطاع الثالث المكمل للقطاعين العام والخاص، لذا فإن التوعية بأهمية العمل التطوعي الخيري يعود على المجتمع والبلد بفوائد لا يمكن حصرها فهي تؤدي إلى تخفيف العبء على الدولة وتدفع بروح التعاون بين المؤسسات والهيئات والجهات الرسمية والحكومية والمجتمع وتزيد أواصر الأخوة والمحبة بين أفراد المجتمع وتقليل التكلفة المادية عن كاهل الدولة وتخفيض مستوى الفراغ لدى الشباب، ويعرف العمل التطوعي من وجهة نظر الباحثين الاجتماعيين بأنه الجهد الذي يبذله الفرد من اجل مجتمعه أو من اجل مؤسسة أو من اجل جماعة معينة، دون توقع جزاء مادي مقابل جهده سواء أكان هذا الجهد مبذولا بالنفس أو المال عن طيب خاطر في سبيل سعادة الأخرين. كما يمثل العمل التطوعي معيارا لرقي المجتمع ووعي أفراده وإنسانيته والتي تظهر الحرص على رعاية المصالح العامة والخاصة والشعور بمعاناة الأخرين وحاجاتهم ومشكلاتهم. وفي مدينة الحلة منطقة الدراسة نجد أن العمل التطوعي من قبل الشباب يأخذ صورا متعددة أثناء الزيارة الأربعينية حيث أن مدينة الحلة تعد محورا أساسيا ومهما من محاور مرور الزوار إلى مدينة كربلاء المقدسة، وهنا نجد أن الشباب يبادر في تقديم الخدمات بشكل تطوعي ودون مقابل مادي، وهذا الأمر ناجم عن الوعي لدى الشباب الحسيني ورغبتهم في التكافل والتعاون وتذليل الصعاب وتهدف البحث إلى إبراز صور العمل التطوعي من قبل الشباب، فضلا عن معرفة دوافع العمل التطوعي التي من خلالها معرفة مدى وعي الشباب بأهمية العمل التطوعي والتعاون، وقد يكون العمل التطوعي في الزيارة الأربعينية باكورة لأعمال تطوعية أخرى يقوم بها الشباب لخدمة مناطقهم في مجالات مختلفة.

Voluntary work is called the “Third sector” that complements the public and private sectors. So, awareness of the importance of voluntary charitable work can give back to society and the country with un limited benefits, it leads to reducing the burden on the state, pushes the spirit of cooperation between institutions, bodies, official and governmental bodies, and society, and maximize the bonds of brotherhood and love between individuals of society, and reduce the material cost to the state and reduce the level of spare time among the youth. Volunteer work is defined by the viewpoint of social researchers, as the effort exerted by individual for the sake of their community, institution or for a specific group, without expecting anything in return, whether this effort is exerted with self-sacrifice or with money willingly for the sake of the happiness of others. Volunteerism also represents a standard for the development of society and the awareness of its members and humanity, which shows keenness to take care of public and private interests and a feeling of suffering of others, their needs, and problems. In the city of Hilla, the study area, we find that volunteer work by young people takes multiple forms during the Arbaeen pilgrimage, as the city of Hilla is an essential and important axis of pilgrims passage to the holy city of Karbala, and here we find that young people take the initiative to provide services voluntarily and without financial compensation. This matter is a result of awareness among Husseini youth and their desire for interdependence, cooperation, and overcoming difficulties. The research aims to highlight the forms of volunteer work by young people, as well as knowing the motives for volunteering through which to know the extent of youth awareness of the importance of volunteering and cooperation. Volunteer work in the Arbaeen pilgrimage may be early for other voluntary work carried out by young people to serve their areas in various fields.
