تعد الشخصية أحد أهم أركان الرواية، فهي التي تقوم بالعبء الأكبر في بناء الهيكل الروائي. وقد تم استعراض تعريف الشخصية الروائية من وجهة نظر عدة نقاد عرب وأجانب، ثم كيفية تصوير الكاتب للشخصية الروائية، مما يثير تعاطف القارئ مع تلك الشخصيات، التي تنقسم إلى أنواع منها: شخصيات رئيسية وثانوية ومسطحة ونامية، ومن ثم تم استعراض وتحليل شخصيات رواية الجنة العذراء، التي هي من أهم روايات الكاتب محمد عبد الحليم عبد الله، جسديا ومعنويا وماديا ودورها في إنشاء الصراع وتأجيجه وبالتالي إنهائه. يبرز الصراع الروائي الواقع الاجتماعي في ريف مصر في القرن الماضي، ويكشف عن المشكلات التي يعاني منها أحد أبنائه، وقد بدأ الصراع مع حياة البطل طفلا إلى أن وصل ذروته في بداية مرحلة الشباب، هذا الصراع الذي كشف عن خصائص وسمات كل شخصية وأدواتها في توجيه الصراع لصالحها، وبالتالي إنهائه، وقد أوضح الصراع التناقض الواضح بين الشخصيات الرئيسة والثانوية. تقوم الشخصيات الثانوية بتسريع وتيرة الأحداث ودفع الصراع إلى نهايته، وبالتالي إنهاء المشكلة، بمجرد أن انتهت مشكلة إرثه في أرض أبيه برزت مشكلة حالت بينه وبين الاستمتاع بهذا الإرث وهي اختفاء حبيبته ومن ثم أصبحت أراضي أبيه جنته العذراء.
Character is considered the most important element in the novel. It bears the major burden in the building of the structure of the novel. I exposed the novelistic character identification form the points of view of several Arab and foreign critics. I showed the way in which the novel writer portrayed the characters of the novel. I think that this may make the reader sympathies with these Characters, which vary into kinds like: main Characters, secondary characters and developing characters. In this way, I studied the characters of "Al Jannah Alazraa" novel, by "M. Abdulhalim Abdalla ". I analyzed these characters physically and spiritually. I focused on their roles in originating, raising and ending the conflict. This novel conflict shows the social reality in the Egyptian countryside in the last century. It exposes the problems that confront the protagonist. The conflict began with his childhood until the beginning of his youth, raising its climax. This conflict uncovered the specifications and traits of every character, and their tools in manipulating the conflict and then fishing it. The conflict in this novel proved the clear contradiction between main and secondary characters. Secondary characters exceed the sequence of acts and bringing the end of the conflict. As soon as the protagonist's problem ends, another one raises. That happened with "Redha", the protagonist, when he got his heritage, a great problem emerged; the ambiguous disappearance of his beloved girl. That incident made him can't enjoy his new paradise, that became the virgin paradise (Al-Jannah AlAzraa)
