إن كراهة اجتماع الصورتين لحرف واحد في رسم المصحف، من العلل الصحيحة المتفق عليها في رسم المصاحف العثمانية: حيث إننا نجد علماء الرسم عللوا بعض مواضع الحذف بكراهة اجتماع الصورتين، كما بينوا وجه اجتماع الصورتين في المواضع التي أثرواها كذلك. ومن الجدير بالعلم للمشتغلين بعلم القراءات ورسم المصاحف: معرفة المراد بمصطلح اجتماع الصورتين، ومعرفة المواضع التي منع فيها اجتماع الصورتين والمواضع التي جاز فيها الاجتماع، ومعرفة علة منع اجتماع الصورتين في رسم المصاحف العثمانية، وعلل تجويز الجمع بينهما، ولذا جاء هذا البحث مبينا هذا المصطلح، مقرونا بأمثلته ونماذجه. ويهدف هذا البحث إلى التعريف بمفهوم اجتماع الصورتين في المصاحف العثمانية، وتعيين مواضع اجتماع الصورتين منعا وجوازا، مع بيان علة منع اجتماع الصورتين، وعلة جواز الجمع بين الصورتين.
