المستخلص: تناول بحث: (أجور العلماء وعطاياهم من خلال معجم الأدباء لياقوت الحموي دراسة تحليلية) جانبا مهم وهو أن العلماء لكي يتفرغوا للقيام بدورهم الذي هو أساس الفكر البشري واللبنة الأولى في بناء الحضارة الإنسانية، يحتاجون إلى ما تقوم به حياتهم من الحاجيات والضروريات، من أجور وعطايا اختلف تقديرها ومصدرها من عصر لآخر، تحملها في بعض الأحيان ذو الهيئات من الخلفاء والسلاطين والأمراء...، وفي أحيان أخرى كانت تتحملها الدولة متمثلة في الدواوين، ومن العلماء من اشترط الأجرة على الطلاب، وتعفف عنها الكثير منهم؛ فاتخذوا الحرف والصناعات يقتاتون منها، فاكتروا الدكاكين بالأسواق، واشتغل بعضهم بنسخ الكتب...، وأنفق منهم على طلاب العلم وذوي الحاجات، كما أن بعض العلماء كان يستثمر ما حصل عليه من عطاءات في الضياع والبساتين؛ لتدر عليهم دخلا يغنيهم عن الحاجة والسؤال، وقد وصلت إلينا أخبارهم في ثنايا الكتب والمصنفات، ككتاب معجم الأدباء لياقوت الحموي المتوفي سنة ٦٢٦ ه/ ١٢٢٨ م.

Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and prayers and peace be upon the most honorable of the Messengers, as for what follows: The research: (Scientists’ wages and gifts through the muejam al'udaba' of yaqut Analytical Study) An important aspect is dealt with that scientists, in order to devote themselves to fulfilling their role – which is the basis of human thought and the first building block of human civilization – need to pay for the needs and necessities of their lives. Gifts whose estimation and source differed from one era to another. Sometimes they were correction the sons of caliphs, sultans and princes..., and at other times they were borne by the state represented in the bureaus, and from scholars who stipulated the payment of students, and many of them pardoned them; So they took crafts and industries to feed from them, so they bought shops in the markets, and some of them worked with copying books..., and he spent from them on students of knowledge and people with needs, and some scholars invested what they got from gifts in estates and orchards to generate income for them that suffices them from their need. And the question, and their news reached us in the folds of books and compilations, such as the book, muejam al'udaba' liaqut alhamawii He died in the year 626 AH / 1228 AD.
