المستخلص: This paper unfolds a newly invested pragmatic tool, namelye- videntiality in its sensory and reported types to resuscitate and the¬reby zoom into new aspects of political discourse, which has been given scant attention. This attempt might gear research in this very area of enquiry with new discourse analytic tools that help uncover speakers’ intentions in context, in addition to other objectives. In order to show some kind of incongruence and discrepancy in po¬litical discourse the US president’s tweets constitute a fair and fer¬tile ground whereby sensory and reported evidentatiality are studied both qualitatively and quantitatively based on Plamer’s typology (2001) so as to evaluate and interpret discourse and evidence stren¬gth. I will investigate Trump’s tweets (2019) while applying one le¬vel of van Dijk’s socio-cognitive triangular approach, namely the discourse level (1995). Results show that there is a heavy reliance on reported evidentiality, and that inflicts an interpretation whose core matter revolves around lack of evidence and manipulation via victimization strategies, accusations, fear arousal and things alike in rhetoric. In addition, results do also show that cognitive processes are deployed to filter ideologies and a variety of attitudes in connection to many overarching issues, most of them are laden with stereotypi¬cal images, overgeneralizations and value judgments.
