تظهر إشكالية البحث في معرفة مفهوم الفكر النحتي ودوره في تشكيل الفراغات العمرانية، حيث يدور السؤال الرئيسي للبحث حول كيف يستطيع النحات استخدام أفكاره في تصميم فراغ عمراني جديد؟، ويحاول البحث الإجابة على هذا التساؤل من خلال توضيح القيم التشكيلية لتصميم الفراغ العمراني ومراحل تطور الفكر النحتي في تصميم الفراغ العمراني والأنماط التي يعتمد عليها النحات في تشكيل الفراغ العمراني مستشهدا ببعض الأعمال الموضحة لذلك؛ لذلك فأن منهج البحث يعرض الجانب التحليلي والتطبيقي. ومن أهم النتائج التي توصلت إليها الباحثة أن العمارة والنحت نسيج فني مبدع يطلق عليه العمارة النحتية وأن النحات يتعامل مع المدينة ككتلة واحدة قابلة للتشكيل كما يتعامل مع أعماله؛ لذلك يكون الشكل هو المهيمن الأساسي لتفسير الهيئة الحضرية للمدينة كما أن اختلاف أنماط التفكير تساعد النحات على إبداع هيئة الفراغ العمراني وإضافة لمسة جمالية له؛ مما يساعد على خروج تصميمات نحتية بأنماط بيولوجية.
The research problem appears in knowing the concept of sculptural thought and its role in forming urban spaces. The main question of the research revolves around how the sculptor can use his ideas in designing a new urban space? The research tries to answer this question by clarifying the plastic values of the design of the urban space and the stages of the development of sculptural thought in the design of the urban space and the patterns that the sculptor relies on in forming the urban void, citing some of the works illustrated for that.
