المستخلص: أهتم البحث بدراسة المحددات الجغرافية للبصمة البيئية بجمهورية مصر العربية باعتبارها أحد مؤشرات التنمية المستدامة الرائدة في قياس الطلب البشري المتزايد على الموارد الطبيعة المحدودة، ويتكون من مبحثين أساسيين: المبحث الأول: تم من خلاله استعراض مفهوم البصمة البيئية ونبذه تاريخية عنها، علاقة البصمة البيئية بالتنمية المستدامة، مؤشرات البصمة البيئية وأهم المفاهيم والمؤشرات التي ارتبطت بمفهوم البصمة البيئية وتطورها على مستوى العالم. المبحث الثاني: تم من خلاله استعراض وتحليل تطور معدلات مؤشر البصمة البيئية والسعة البيولوجية وحجم العجز البيئي بجمهورية مصر العربية خلال الفترة ممن عام ١٩٦١ حتى عام ٢٠١٨، كما تضمن دراسة وتحليل أهم المحددات الجغرافية للبصمة البيئية بجمهورية مصر العربية كالنمو السكاني وحجم انبعاثات الغازات المسببة للاحتباس الحراري، كما تم دراسة أهم مؤشرات السعة البيولوجية بجمهورية مصر العربية، وهي مؤشر الأراضي الزراعية وعوامل تطور حجم الرقعة الزراعية، مؤشر المصايد الطبيعية وحجم المساهمة في الإنتاج السمكي، مؤشر العمران والبنية التحتية ودور المدن الجديدة في تطوير المؤشر.

The research was interested in studying the geographical determinants of the environmental footprint in the Arab Republic of Egypt as one of the leading indicators of sustainable development in measuring the increasing human demand for limited natural resources, and it consists of two main topics: The first topic: The first topic contained the concept of the ecological footprint, a historical overview of it, the relationship between the ecological footprint and sustainable development. It also included the ecological footprint indicators and the most important concepts and indicators that were associated with the concept of the ecological footprint and its development worldwide. The second topic: The second topic contained the development of environmental footprint rates, biological capacity and the size of the environmental deficit in the Arab Republic of Egypt during the period from 1961 to 2018. It also included a study and analysis of the most important geographical determinants of the environmental footprint in the Arab Republic of Egypt, such as population growth and the volume of greenhouse gas emissions. The most important indicators of biological capacity in the Arab Republic of Egypt were studied, which are the agricultural lands indicator and the factors of development of the size of the agricultural area, the indicator of natural fisheries and the size of contribution to fish production, the indicator of urbanization and infrastructure and the role of new cities in developing the indicator.
