المستخلص: In the history of Islam, the debate on false hadith (mawḍū‘) has taken place since the emergence of hadith forgers. Scholars have made efforts to preserve the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) throughout the ages until now. But the question of false hadith remains polemical when it is still found that synthetic stories spread in society through the publication of books, information from social media through the writings of some authors who still use arguments without stating the source and law of the hadith. This situation contributed to the spread of false hadith in society. This study is qualitative through data collection from hadith books and related journal articles. The study’s findings show that although the spread of false hadith is seen to be controlled in the publication, it still has the potential to confuse the public and tarnish the purity of hadith. As modern social media has become an essential medium for disseminating information, most people are more likely to get information and thus, it is easy to share it. The implication is that society does not consider the status of hadiths, so practices that have no support from the Prophet (PBUH) are becoming more widespread. However, Islam emphasises the use of genuine arguments so that a proper presentation to the listener. References, revisions, and the use of an expression based on hadith in Malaysian publications must be examined. The source must be ascertained to ensure the validity of the information. Efforts to ensure zero false hadith in the society are not only focused on the medium of publication and social media only, but it includes disseminating information about the dangers of false hadith to the society so that the information that reaches them is a definite truth. This effort can keep the Muslim community from being included in the group and threatened with the retribution of hell in the future.
