المستخلص: Economic theories have defined possible links between FDI and international trade. This article attempts to determine the expected effects of the installation of the foreign laboratories on the foreign trade of the pharmaceutical products in Algeria. The presentation of the foreign laboratories operating in the pharmaceutical market by setting up subsidiaries or joint ventures with the Saidal industrial group, allowed us to determine the effect of their installation on foreign trade through an analysis of the evolution of imports and exports of the pharmaceutical products during period 2001 to 2020. This study shows that FDI operating in pharmaceutical industry has played a role as substitute for imports and as a complement to exports of pharmaceutical products, but with more or less appreciable effects.

Les théories économiques ont défini les liens possibles entre les IDE et le commerce international. Cet article tente de déterminer les effets attendus de l’installation des laboratoires pharmaceutiques étrangers sur le commerce extérieur des produits pharmaceutiques en Algérie. La présentation des laboratoires étrangers, qui opèrent dans le marché pharmaceutique par implantation de filiales ou des joint-ventures avec le groupe industriel Saidal, nous a permis de déterminer l’effet de leur installation sur le commerce extérieur à travers une analyse de l’évolution des importations et exportations des produits pharmaceutiques pendant une période allant de 2001 à 2020 . Il ressort de cette étude que les IDE opérant dans l’industrie pharmaceutique ont joué un rôle de substitut aux importations et de complément aux exportations des produits pharmaceutiques mais avec des effets plus au moins appréciables.
