المستخلص: The plural cultural and linguistic heritage that makes up the identity of the Algerian people has always been a pride that Assia Djebar has seized upon to make it an essential theme running through her work from start to finish, although the legacy of French language constituted for the academician a problem going in a mixed relation between valuation and devaluation of this language. It is from a literary point of view that our analysis sets out to describe the close relationship between these two dimensions of culture and languages and their importance in the formation of any identity fact. Language being the instrument through which all forms of social life are perpetuated, it is to this dimension that we will devote most of our study which will describe on a diachronic level the relationship of the writer to the different languages that have marked its existence.

L’héritage culturel et linguistique pluriel qui compose l’identité du peuple algérien a toujours été une fierté dont s’est emparé Assia Djebar pour en faire un thème essentiel traversant son oeuvre d’un bout à l’autre, quoique le legs de la langue française a constitué pour l’académicienne une problématique allant dans un rapport mitigé entre valorisation et dévalorisation de cette langue. C’est sur un point de vue littéraire que notre analyse se propose de décrire la relation étroite qu’entretiennent ces deux dimensions que sont la culture et les langues et leur importance dans la formation de tout fait identitaire. La langue étant l’instrument par le biais duquel se perpétuent toutes les formes de la vie sociale c’est à cette dimension que nous consacrerons la plus grande partie de notre étude qui décrira sur un plan diachronique le rapport de l’écrivaine aux différentes langues qui ont jalonné son existence.
