|a الجدير بالذكر أن الضرورة الشعرية في أقرب تعريفاتها هي الخروج على "القاعدة النحوية والصرفية" في الشعر خاصة لإقامة الوزن وتسوية القافية، وتعرض للقافية في المراحل التي تمر بها، وهي الاستقراء والتقسيم والتجريد والتقعيد، وموقف النحاة منها حتى نصل للقانون العام الذي تندرج تحته مجموعة من الجزئيات المشتركة في الخصائص والسمات، وتخرج عليه بعض الجزئيات الأخرى التي يعد النحاة بعضها شاذا وبعضها الآخر ضرورة وغير ذلك. يتناول الفصل كثير من الظواهر والعلاقة المشتركة بينها وبين الحمل على المعنى والضرورة الشعرية التي ظهرت في ديوان البحتري. ثم تناول أنماط الحذف بأنواعها في ديوان البحتري. وتناول الفصل فصيلة الجنس (التذكير والتأنيث) وعلاقتها بالحمل على المعنى.
