المستخلص: تناول هذا البحث معالجة في التاريخ السياسي والاقتصادي أشهر من عرف بالبحث عن الخبايا في عصر الدولة المملوكية في مصر والشام، التي تمتد بين عامي (648- 923هـ/ 1250- 1517م)، وتشمل دولة المماليك البحرية أو دولة المماليك التركية، ودولة المماليك البرجية أو دولة المماليك الجراكسة، لأن دولة المماليك تزامنت في بدايتها مع وجود الخلافة العباسية في فترتها الأخيرة، وتزامنت مع انهيار الخلافة العباسية في بغداد على أيدي المغول، وانتهت الدولة المملوكية على أيدي المغول، ومن أهداف هذا البحث إظهار الجوانب الإيجابية في بعض النظم الحضارية في العصر المملوكي لمواجهة النظرة السلبية التي حاول بعض الكتاب إلصاقها بالدولة المملوكية، والابتعاد عن الغيبة والنميمة وغير ذلك من أفعال مشينة قد تتخللها بعض الدراسات للمستشرقين والحاقدين على الإسلام وعلى علمائه.

One of these figures was the Prince Akosh Al-Ashrafi (died in 736 H./ 1335) who was known for his interest in searching for the hidden treasures and things. Moreover, he was also known for being the person who excavated in a grotto/cavern underneath the mountain which, could be the mountain of Al-Mokatam. He dug there as he was possibly attempting to search for hidden treasures. He went from his house at night, he sometimes went there walking and his servant rides his horse behind him accompanying one of the Memlukes till he reached the mountain to stay there for several days. Other famous people who were well-known for their searching for hidden things and treasures was Sheikh Gamal Al-Deen Al-Mezy (died in 742 H. / 1341) who excavated for treasures and valuable things. Some people made a good money of that through manipulating his money as they helped him in his excavation which eventually cause his poverty. Another figure of the famous people who were well-known for their searching for hidden things and treasures was the Prince Baktout Al-Kermany (died in 749 H. / 1348), Sheikh Shams Al-Deen Mohamed Ibn Mubarak Al-Athary (died 806 H. / 1403), Imam Nasser Al-Deen Mohamed Al-Tanahy (died 809 H./1406), Zain Al-Deen Khaled Ibn Kassem Al-Agely (835 H. / 1432), the Quranic Reader Al-Mokreia Shams Al-Deen Mohamed Ibn Yahia Al-Salehy (died in 843 H./1439) as well as many others. Such people were concerned with and truly interested in searching for treasuring, excavating for treasures, hidden and valuable things. Thus, they spend a lot of effort, time and money as they attempted as far as they could to obtain such valuable things, monies and treasuries. Unfortunately, their money, effort and time went in vain and they could find what they searched for.
