المستخلص: يهدف هذا البحث لدراسة علل التسمية التي تشكل وسيلة من وسائل تمييز معاني المفردات فبها يرفع الغموض والإبهام الذي يكتنف المفردات لدى القارئ أو السامع، وذلك من خلال معرفة الملحظ الذي يربط الشيء بمسماه، وكيفية تحققه في اللفظ الموضوع له في أهم مجال تطبيقي لها، وهو المعجم الاشتقاقي للدكتور محمد حسن جبل، الذي يعد واحدا من أبرز المحدثين الذين اهتموا بفكرة علل التسمية، فأفرد له بحثا نظريا يؤصل للموضوع من ناحية، ومن ناحية أخرى يأتي معجمه الاشتقاقي القيم واحدا من أهم المجالات التطبيقية في دراسة علل التسمية؛ إذ إن المعجم الاشتقاقي قد شمل عللا كثيرة، منها: ما وافق آراء القدامى ومنها ما خالفها، ومنها: ما كان جديدا فلم يسبق أحد إليها، والبحث يقوم على جمع هذه العلل في المعجم وتصنفيها للوقوف على تلك الملاحظ التي من أجلها يوضع الاسم لمسماه ويجعل علامة عليه، والكشف عن نمط الحياة الفكرية للعرب، وكذلك الكشف عن مذاهبهم وطرائقهم في إطلاق الأسماء على المسميات، وقد انتهى البحث إلى عدة نتائج، لعل أهمها أن للعرب مذاهب مختلفة، وأساليب شتى متنوعة في التسمية والمعرفة بها تساعد في وضع المصطلحات للمستحدثات، وأن تعدد التعليلات للاسم الواحد يكون سببه الاختلاف من زاوية النظر والتأمل أو الاشتقاق، وعناية العلامة الدكتور/ محمد جبل بموضوع التعليل اللغوي فقد ظهر من خلال البحث عدد كثير من التعليلات التي انفرد بها، ولم ترد عند غيره، واهتمامه بالتعليل لتسمية كثير من الأشياء، كتعليل مسميات البلاد، والحيوانات، والطيور وأعضاء جسم الإنسان، والشهور العربية، ومسميات العقيدة، ويوم القيامة وأصحاب الأديان الأخرى، وغير ذلك.

This research aims to study the justification of the nomenclature, which is a way to distinguish the meanings of the vocabulary by removing ambiguity about it, for the recipient, through the knowledge of the observer who connects the thing with its name, and how to achieve it in the word set for it in the most important field of application, which is the Derivatives Dictionary of Dr. Muhammad Hassan Jabal, Who is one of the modernists who were interested in the idea of justifying names, So he devoted to it a theoretical research that rooted the subject on the one hand, and on the other hand, his dictionary of derivations of comes as one of the most important applied fields in the study of the justification of names, As the dictionary of derivations has included many explanations, including: what agreed with the views of the ancients and some were against them, and among them: what was new and no one preceded them, and the research is based on collecting these explanations in the dictionary, and classify them to find out those notes for which the name of the thing is put and be sign made on it, and revealing the intellectual lifestyle of the Arabs, as well as revealing their ways of giving names to things, and the research concluded with several results. Perhaps the most important of them is that the Arabs have different sects, and various methods of naming, and knowledge of them help in putting down terms for innovations. And that the multiplicity of explanations for the same name is caused by the difference from the point of view, contemplation or derivation, and Dr./ Muhammad Jabal’s interest in the subject of linguistic explanation, as it appeared through the research many explanations that were unique to him, also His interest in justifying the naming of many things, such as the explanation of the names of countries, animals, birds, organs of the human body, the Arab months, the names of faith, the Day of Resurrection, the existing names of other religions, and so on.
