تقوم الصورة على مستويات عناصر الإبداع، وهي المبدع قائل النص، ومبدعه يحمل فيه رؤيته لعالمه، وهي رؤية تشمل كل ما يحيطه (ذاتيته، أسرته، عمله، احتكاكه بغيره، رؤيته لوطنه وإحساسه به)... كل هذا يقدمه في نصه عاكسا رؤية محددة معيشة، والمتلقي قارئ النص بقصد الاستمتاع به وتحمل رؤاه والتأثر برؤية المبدع، والعنصر الثالث من هذه العناصر وهو النص، وما يقدمه من وظائف على مستوى بناء النص وتشكيله على مستوي الفكر واللغة، وكذلك السياق المحيط وكيف يحاول المبدع أن يقدم رؤيته عن السياق المعيشي وكيف يتأثر المتلقي بذلك. وقد ذكر النقاد وظائف تخص كل عنصر من هذه العناصر، فالمبدع تخدمه وظائف الإبداع ونقل الأحاسيس والتعبير أي الوظيفة التعبيرية، والمتلقي تخدمه وظائف التأثير، والنص تخدمه وظائف الشعرية والجمالية، والسياق تخدمه وظيفة الرؤية... وكل هذه الوظائف تتحملها الصورة وتقوم بها على مستوى النص الشعري. ويتخصص هذا البحث في دراسة وظيفة الصورة عند ملك عبد العزيز لبيان أثر الصورة ووظيفتها عند ملك عبد العزيز.
