المستخلص: الكلمة هي الوحدة اللفظية الدنيا الدالة على معنى، وهي اسم وفعل وحرف فالاسم هو الذات، والفعل هو الحدث، والحرف هو الواسطة التي تدل على ثبوت الحدث للذات أو نفيه عنها. رتبة الاسم مقدمة على رتبة الفعل، ورتبة الفعل مقدمة على رتبة الحرف، وترتيب ابن مالك لها في الذكر ترتيب لها في الشرف، ولما كان الاسم هو الأول فإنه لا يجحف به، وكذا الفعل لأنه مشتق من الاسم إلا في مواضع مخصوصة من اجتماع جزم وحرفي علة. واو العطف لا تفارقها ضميمة الجميع في كل أحوالها وفي جميع أقسامها، فهذه وظيفتها عندما تكون واو عطف وهي كذلك إذا كانت واو حال أو واو قسم، أو واو معية لا تخلو من ضميمة الجمع متى وجدت وأينما حلت. عطف المفرد على المفرد قوة ووضوح للجملة لأنه مشاركة في الحكم والعمل، وعطف الجملة على الجملة تحصيل لمعنى الجملتين أو الجمل فهو أيضا قوة ووضوح لمعنى الكلام، والجانبان زاويتان متساويتان عند عنترة، مما يفيد قوة ووضوح جميع الكلام عند الشاعر البدوي الموسوم أنه من الطبقة الأولى في الاستشهاد النحوي. العطف بنوعيه من عطف المفرد والجملة جاء متشاكلا اعتمادا على ظاهر الكلام فكان من العطف على اللفظ ومن عطف الاسمية على الاسمية والفعلية على الفعلية، وورد غير قليل عطف الفعلية على الاسمية والعكس تحصيلا لمعنى الجملتين التجدد والحدوث في جانب والثبوت والدوام في آخر. حظ عطف الفعلية على الفعلية يبلغ ضعفي حظ عطف الاسمية على الاسمية، وما ذاك إلا لأن عنترة صاحب قضية ازدواجية تفتح الزاوية منفرجة بدرجة كبيرة للجديد الحادث، وتجعلها في حدود المألف للمتعارف الموروث.
