يوضح استعراض كافة المحكات التشخيصية التي وردت بالدليلين الخامس والخامس المعدل في سبيل التعرف على وتحديد وتشخيص اضطراب طيف التوحد، والملامح التشخيصية التي أعقبتها استكمالا لهذا الأمر وذلك بالتحليل والدراسة والنقد أن طبيعة هذا الاضطراب لا تزال مشوشة، وغير واضحة، وغير مستقرة، وأن أساليب تحديده وتشخيصه وقياسه لا يزال يشوبها الغموض والتشوش والارتباك حيث يوجد كم كبير من المآخذ والملاحظات على ذلك التشخيص مما قد يؤثر على التشخيص الدقيق للحالة إلى جانب الاختفاء غير المبرر والقسري لمحوري الطيف (اضطراب التوحد، واضطراب اسبرجر) أو اضطرابات الطيف بشكل عام فضلا عن الصهر القسري لكل اضطرابات الطيف معا مما أنتج كيانا هلاميا لم ولن يستطع أن يعوض عدم وجودها، ولا يصلح أن يكون بديلا لها وهو ما يتطلب المزيد من التأني، والتدبر، وإعادة التفكير في الموضوع من كافة جوانبه حتى يمكننا أن نصل في النهاية إلى رؤية واضحة حوله يتم الاتفاق عليها وقبولها إما بالوصول إلى بديل مناسب، أو بالعودة إلى الجذور من جديد.
A review of the diagnostic criteria contained in the fifth and revised editions of the diagnostic manuals, aimed at identifying and diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), along with the diagnostic features that followed, serves as a complement to this subject through analysis, study, and critique. The nature of this disorder remains confused, unclear, and unstable, with the methods for its identification, diagnosis, and measurement still marred by ambiguity and inconsistency. There is a significant number of objections and comments regarding these diagnoses, which may impact the accurate diagnosis of the condition. This includes the controversial and seemingly arbitrary elimination of distinct categories within the spectrum, such as autistic disorder and Asperger’s disorder, and the merging of all spectrum disorders into a single, ill-defined category. This has resulted in a nebulous entity that fails to adequately address the diverse needs of the spectrum and is unsuitable as a replacement. This situation demands greater patience, reflection, and reevaluation of the issue in all its dimensions, so that we may ultimately arrive at a clear and acceptable understanding.
