المستخلص: تتناول الدراسة التعريف بالمؤرخ العلامة الأستاذ الدكتور حسين بن عبدالله العمري، أستاذ التاريخ الحديث والمعاصر بجامعة صنعاء، ومحاولة التعرف على الحياة العلمية والسياسية والإدارية للمؤرخ وعرض أهم مؤلفاته التاريخية التي تتمحور حول تاريخ اليمن الحديث وحضارته. أهمية الدراسة: التعرف على شخصية تاريخية وسياسية يمنية، وعرض لأهم مؤلفاته العديدة والمتنوعة التي أسهم مؤرخنا في تأليفها ونشرها عن تاريخ اليمن ومصادره. والهدف من هذه الدراسة: عرض تاريخي موجز لأهم المؤلفات التاريخية والمؤرخون اليمنيون، وأهم المصادر التي تتناول مراحل تاريخ اليمن، وبالتالي ترسيخ مكانة المؤرخ في المحافل الثقافية المهتمة بهذا الجانب. وبطبيعة الحال تم إتباع المنهج التاريخي الوصفي الإستقرائي، وجمع المادة التاريخية وترتيبها وصياغتها وعرضها بما يتوافق والمنهج التاريخي في العلوم الإنسانية. ومن خلال هذا العرض التاريخي تم الوصول إلى نتائج هامة تتمحور حول المكانة التاريخية والسياسية والإدارية للمؤرخ العمري، والتعريف بأهم كتاباته وإسهاماته التاريخية وعلاقاته الشخصية كشخصية ثقافية لها دور في المجتمع اليمني في كل مراحل حياته العلمية والعملية.

The current research discusses the contributions of the historian, Professor Hussein Bin Abdulla Al-Amri, Professor of Modern and Contemporary History, Sana’a University. It also attempts to identify the scholarly political, and administrative biography of Professor Al- Amri’s. Additionally, it presents his prominent historical works which focus on the modern history and civilization of Yemeni.Significance of the Study: the study identifies a Yemeni historical and political figure, and it explores his most important works, which he contributes on the history of Yemen and its sources. attempts to highlight his role in the dissemination of the Yemeni manuscript heritage. In this study, the content of history books and most important chapters and topics, as well as the significance of the time period. Above all, the study exemplifies of the significance of each book separately. Objectives of the Study: The study aims at: presenting a brief of history of the most prominent historical works, the Yemeni historians, and the most important sources that address the stages of the history of Yemen, and thus, consolidating the status of the historian in the cultural forums which are concerned with such a domain.the researcher employs the inductive historical and descriptive method in collecting, preparing, formulating and presenting the historical materials in such a way that conforms with the historical approach in humanities. based on this historical presentation, the study reveals some major findings which focus on the historical, political, and administrative status of the historian, Professor Al-Amri; and present his most prominent historical works and contributions, and his personal relationships as a cultural figure that has a role in the Yemeni society throughout his scholarly and job careers.
