المستخلص: تسعى هذه المقالة إلى تسليط الضوء على ما تدين به آداب الأمم المختلفة والكتابة الأدبية في حد ذاتها للترجمة. سنذكر أولا بالدور الذي أدته الترجمة في انتشار النصوص وبالتالي في بناء الأدب العالمي، فالدور المحوري والحاسم الذي أداه المترجمون والمترجمات منسي في أغلب الأحيان. سنذكر أيضا بأن الترجمة كانت عاملا حاسما في تطور الآداب بل وفي تأسيسها، ونشير إلى أهم الوظائف التاريخية التي أدتها الترجمة في هذا المجال. وسنعرض في الأخير لما نعتبره ذروة العلاقة بين الترجمة والأدب (بهذا الترتيب)، ألا وهي العلاقة الوجودية بين الممارستين.

Addressing students of translation and teachers and students of literature, the present contribution aims at shedding light on the historical debt that national literatures, and literature as a practice, have toward translation. First, the paper recalls the role played by translation in the dissemination of texts, and thus in the construction of universal literature, since the decisive contribution of translators is often forgotten and obscured. Furthermore, it highlights how translation has been a principal factor in the development, not to say the foundation, of literatures in the frame of languages-cultures, as well as the principle historical functions of translation. Finally, the paper examines what I consider as the highlight of the relation Translation-Literature (in this order): the ontological relationship between the two practices.

Cette contribution, qui s’adresse tant aux étudiants de traduction qu’aux étudiants et enseignants de littérature, a pour objet de de mettre la lumière sur la dette historique que les littératures nationales, et la Littérature en tant que pratique, ont envers la traduction. Il ne s’agira pas uniquement de rappeler le rôle qu’a joué la traduction dans la diffusion des textes et donc dans l’édification de la littérature universelle car l’apport décisif des traducteurs/rices est souvent oublié, occulté. Nous rappellerons aussi comment la traduction a été un facteur principal dans le développement, voire la fondation, des littératures au sein des langues-cultures, ainsi que les principales fonctions historiques de la traduction. Nous aborderons enfin ce que nous considérons être le point culminant de la relation Traduction-Littérature (dans cet ordre), à savoir le lien ontologique entre les deux pratiques.
