ويعد مسح استخدام الأرض في المناطق الريفية وسيلة للحصول على صورة متكاملة لأنماط استخدام الأرض المتبعة في المنطقة وعلاقتها بالظروف الجغرافية. تناولت الدراسة أهم الضوابط الطبيعية والبشرية ومعوقات استخدام الأرض في الجزيرة أبا، ولتحقيق الأهداف استخدمت الدراسة المنهج التاريخي والمنهج الوصفي، واستخدام الأساليب الإحصائية المختلفة لجمع البيانات وتحليلها وتفسيرها وتم جمع البيانات عن طريق الملاحظة والمقابلة والاستبيان والصور الجوية، وقد أظهرت الدراسة أن التغير الذي حدث لأنماط استخدام الأرض في منطقة الدراسة منذ العام 1993م حتى تاريخه يتمثل في النمو الحضري الكبير الذي حدث في السنوات الأخيرة نتيجة لمحاولات تخطيط المنطقة لتمليك قطع سكنية، وإنشاء مرافق خدمية للمنطقة، ونتيجة لذلك سلب حوالي (1687 فداناً) من أراضي مشروع الجزيرة أبا، وحولت إلى استخدام سكني. وقد أبرزت الدراسة أن طبيعة التربة من أهم الضوابط الطبيعية المؤثرة على استخدام الأرض في المنطقة. وكذلك يعتبر التوسع العمراني من أكبر المشاكل التي تواجه الزراعة في منطقة الدراسة. وخلاصة القول إن مشكلات استخدام الأرض في المنطقة تعود إلى غياب أي خطط قومية أو محلية لاستغلال الموارد الطبيعية والإهمال الكامل لقطاع الإنتاج التقليدي في خطط التنمية. مما أدى إلى تدهور المنطقة الذي حمل معول تدمر الموارد الطبيعية ومقومات الإنتاج أدى ذلك إلى انهيار الأحوال الاقتصادية للفرد وتغير التركيبة الاجتماعية في المنطقة.
The land use survey in rural areas is a means of obtaining an integrated picture of the land use patterns followed in the region and their relationship to geographical conditions. The study dealt with the most important natural and human controls and obstacles to land use on the island of Aba. To achieve the objectives, the study used the historical and descriptive approach, and the use of various statistical methods for data collection, analysis and interpretation The study found that the change that occurred to the patterns of land use in the study area from 1993 to date is represented by the large urban growth that occurred in recent years as a result of attempts to plan the area to own residential plots, and that resulted in the creation of about 16 projects, as a result of (87) land plots. Al Jazeera Aba, converted to Residential use. The study highlighted that the nature of the soil is one of the most important natural bricks affecting the use of land in the region. Also, urban expansion is one of the biggest problems facing agriculture in the study area. In summary, the problems of land use in the region are due to the absence of any national or local plans for the exploitation of natural resources and the complete neglect of the traditional production sector in development plans. Which led to the deterioration of the region, which led to the destruction of natural resources and production components, which led to the collapse of the economic conditions of the individual and the change of the social structure in the region.
