Cutting over 7000 miles through African climatic and ecological zones, in ten countries, the river Nile is giving life to millions of people in present time, and to untraceable number in the past during and before it set the foundation for some of the greatest civilizations of mankind. Through times the Nile and its tributaries were not as loyal to their streams, as they do not steadily flow on their courses due to climatic functions in their headwaters combined with geomorphological factors along their courses, contributed to alter their channels and the adjacent floodplains. This behavior, through time, must have influenced life of the hunters, nomads, agriculturists and others, for whom the Nile was an artery of life! How could they manage in terms of their subsistence, economy, settlements etc…., to confront those challenges? Has it determined their life? and was it a factor of change? or were they able to adapt?
