The study aims to clarify the degree to which productive woman contribute to promoting local economic development in the desert areas. In pursuance of the study's goal, a questionnaire was distributed to a purposive sample of 101 women who own a private enterprise, work in seven states of southern Algeria, and are active in various economic fields. After the analysis and interpretation of the results and testing of the hypotheses, it was concluded that the prominent feature of women's projects in southern Algeria is the traditional crafts and industries, The findings also revealed a strong correlation between the status and role of productive woman in their local community and the degree of their contribution to achieving local economic development, in addition to significant differences in the degree of productive women's contribution to promoting local economic development according to the nature and location of the project.
