المستخلص: حرف الواو عند النحاة من حروف المعاني التي تتنوع دلالتها في السياق العربي، ومن معانيها "الاستئناف" لكن الشيخ محمد بن يوسف أطفيش الجزائري (1243-1332 ه) المعروف بــــــــ "قطب الأئمة" يثير رأيًا في الاستئناف يخالف ما استقر عليه النحو العربي في العصور المتأخرة، وكان لهذا الرأي أثر بارز في آثاره العلمية؛ فقد اعتنى في معالجاته اللغوية للنصوص بتوجيه الواو وغيرها من حروف الاستئناف إلى معنى نحوى آخر يلائم دلالة سياقها، من هنا يسعى البحث بمنهج وصفي تحليلي إلى دراسة رأي "قطب الأئمة" في استئنافية الواو، وليستوفي الموضوع حقه من الدراسة قام البحث على ثلاثة محاور: أولها: الوقوف على (الاستئناف) في علوم اللغة من حيث: مفهومه وأقسامه، وثانيهما: تناول (الاستئناف) عند "قطب الأئمة" من حيث: مفهومه، وأنماط تشكله، وثالثها: الوقوف على استئنافية الواو في سياقات نصية ورأي "قطب الأئمة" فيها، وتعود أهمية هذا البحث إلى كونه يكشف عن مغايرة نحوية جديرة بالبحث والنظر، وتتأكد هذه الأهمية في الموضوع حين يمتد رأي "قطب الأئمة" من بعده النحوي إلى بعده الدلالي، حيث يقع توجيه النص توجيهًا دلاليًا ولا سيما في سياق النص القرآني الكريم.

Arabic linguists consider the letter “waw” a letter of connotation that plays various functions depending on the context, including the function of resumption. However, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Youssef Atfeesh Al Jazairi (1243 – 1332 AH.), also known as “Qutb Al A’imma”, makes a claim that does not align with the analysis later agreed-upon in the modern Arabic grammatical scholarship. Al Jazairi’s claim on the resumption function of the letter “waw” has had a significant impact on his works. He specifically focused in all his linguistic discussions on treating continuation letters, such as “waw”, as having other grammatical functions that would better fit their contextual nuances. In light of Al Jazairi’s views, this paper adopts an analytical descriptive approach to study his claim on the continuation function of the letter “waw”. The paper is structured into three themes in order to properly examine and study this claim: (1) studying resumption as a linguistic function by analyzing its concept and various parts, (2) examining the concept of resumption in the works of Qutb Al A’imma by analyzing his views on the concept and patterns of resumption, (3) examining the resumption function of the letter “waw” in other contexts and the reflections of Qutb Al A’imma on that. This research paper is particularly important as it studies an interesting linguistic claim that is substantially different from mainstream views. The significance of this topic is further emphasized by the semantic dimension that Qutb Al A’imma added to this grammatical issue as he redirected his analysis to semantic functions in various contexts, most notably in the context of the Holy Quran.
